Marcy Payne

Marcy Payne earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature from Clark Atlanta University in 1999 and her Master of Library and Information Science Degree from Valdosta State University in 2015. She began her career in libraries in 2007 as a Library Associate with the Fulton County Public Library System and was later promoted to Librarian.
Passionate about outreach, Marcy volunteered at a women and children’s shelter and in school and public libraries during high school and college. As a Librarian with Fulton County Public Library System, she initiated multiple outreach programs, working with schools, senior centers, churches, neighborhood planning units, and various community organizations. Her efforts successfully attracted new community partners, expanded outreach, and secured grants for new library programs.
In June 2024, Marcy joined the Cobb County Public Library System as the new Community Engagement Manager. She is continually impressed by the library’s culture of lifelong learning and community engagement and is dedicated to expanding outreach efforts in her current role. Marcy’s vision for serving the community aligns seamlessly with the library’s innovative spirit.
Marcy is passionate about knowledge dissemination and community building. She looks forward to continuing to contribute to the success of the Cobb County Public Library System and now the Cobb Collaborative in her role as part of the Board of Directors, eager to make a positive impact.
