Policy Council on Homelessness

The Policy Council on Homeless (PCOH) - formerly known as the Cobb Human Services Coalition - is an association of agencies and community organizations that work together to reduce homelessness and poverty in Cobb County.  Members share resources and expertise  to increase education, economic opportunity, decent housing, heath benefits, and other services for Cobb’s homeless and at-risk residents.  The PCOH has created a county-wide Discharge Plan to be utilized by hospitals, service agencies and law enforcement entities.

Additional Initiatives & Projects

Annual Jack Vaughan Jr. Volunteer Recognition Dinner

  • Jack Vaughan, Jr. was a state representative who showed unselfish dedication to public service and strongly advocated for those less fortunate in our community.  In recognition and memory of Jack’s service, each year the Policy Council on Homelessness (formerly The CHSC) honors two members of our community, a volunteer and a professional, who have exhibited outstanding service to the homeless and those at-risk for homelessness in Cobb County.

 Point-In-Time Count

  • As a requirement of counties receiving funding from HUD (Housing & Urban Development) for homeless services, a single Point-In-Time Count of all homeless individuals on a certain date within a determined time frame must be conducted, at least, bi-annually.  The next Count for Cobb County will occur in January 2009.
