      <title>Event Updated - CAMP BREATHE EASY</title>
      <description>2008 Camp Breathe Easy Fact Sheet

 
•	Camp Breathe Easy is a seven-day, six-night overnight camp for children, ages 7-13, with moderate to severe asthma.

•	Camp Breathe Easy is for children with asthma who need medication and are limited in summer camping opportunities. The children learn asthma self-management techniques and coping strategies to better handle their illness.

•	Children receive a traditional summer camp experience under the watchful eye of medical professionals who volunteer their time to the program.

•	Campers swim, repel off trees, fish, canoe in the lake, play soccer, basketball and miniature golf, and participate in ceramics and arts and crafts.

•	The Camp is operated by the American Lung Association of Georgia  and is one of the largest asthma camps in the U.S. serving up to 200 kids.

•	Camp Breathe Easy is held annually at beautiful Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge, Georgia (about an hour east of Atlanta).

•	Camp Breathe Easy will celebrate its 28th year in 2008.

•	The Camp dates for 2008 are June 1st – June 6th.

•	Camp Breathe Easy is accredited by the American Camping Association.

•	The Camp fee is $230 and is all-inclusive for Campers.

•	Camp Breathe Easy also provides financial support through 'camperships' for those unable to pay.



 
Camp Breathe Easy is VOLUNTEER DRIVEN
o	FREE room and board is provided for all volunteer staff members
o	Our volunteers sacrifice a week of their time (oftentimes they take personal leave/vacation time from their jobs)
o	Our volunteers help to secure funds and corporate sponsors
o	Our volunteers donate personal finances and resources for the implementation of Camp
o	Many of our volunteers donate more than one week by diligently serving on the Camp Planning Committee and/or Medical Advisory Committee to help implement effective program planning and medical oversight
o	Our volunteers are the engine behind the Camp; They are dedicated, devoted and vital!

      <title>Event Created - CCC Planning &amp; Evaluation Site Training</title>
      <description>Peer Review Teams will be responsible for conducting site visits to&amp;nbsp;&lt;strong&gt;new&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;applicants for FY09-10 and rating grant applications for &lt;strong&gt;all &lt;/strong&gt;organizations who apply for funding through the Cobb County Non-Profit Grant for FY 09-10.&amp;nbsp; If you are a current grantee, you realize the importance of having a professional team of peer volunteers evaluating your organization.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;Many consider it an honor and privilege to serve in this important and mutually benefiting process.&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span /&gt;The requirements for a person to participate on a team follow.&amp;nbsp; One must meet &lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;ALL&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; of the below guidelines in order to be selected:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;The Organization represented must be a &lt;strong&gt;&lt;u&gt;CURRENT PAID&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; member of the Collaborative; &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;One must be of an upper level management position, i.e., Executive Director, Program Manager, Grants Manager, etc. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;One must be willing to commit a good portion of hours to the team during the month of May and June, &amp;nbsp;to include: &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;Attendance at MANDATORY team training scheduled on either May 21st at 9:00am or&amp;nbsp;May 22nd&amp;nbsp;at 1:00pm &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Attendance at all assigned site visits&lt;font size="3"&gt; &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Review of all grant applications assigned and&lt;font size="3"&gt; &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Meeting with team members to finalize site visit and application scores &lt;br /&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman" size="3"&gt;Reaching 100 members &amp;ndash; a milestone in CCC history;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman" size="3"&gt;Creation of the Harmony House &amp;ndash; a collaborative project under the Policy Council on Homelessness; &lt;/font&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman" size="3"&gt;Co -organizing the first ever Homeless Veteran Stand Down event in Cobb County &amp;ndash; Operation Stand Down 2006; and,&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman" size="3"&gt;Increasing the pool of funding available under the Cobb County Nonprofit Grant.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
&lt;font face="Times New Roman" size="3"&gt;In 2008, we will continue to expand the opportunities for Collaborative members to network and partner with other organizations through community focused projects.&amp;nbsp; We will also continue to offer a low-cost training series geared to assist nonprofits with organization sustainability.&amp;nbsp; The Collaborative&amp;rsquo;s Website will continue to serve as a one stop location for both Collaborative and community members to find resource information and to learn what current events are happening in Cobb County.&lt;/font&gt;

The nation-wide awards, to 420 faith-based and community organizations, are designed to help grass-roots faith-based and community organizations enhance their ability to provide a wide range of social services for those in need. Those services include aid for homeless persons, at-risk youth and rural communities and initiatives to empower youth and promote healthy marriage.

Building on our collaborative framework, the Cobb Community Collaborative mission brings together students, parents, educators, mental health agencies, politicians, law enforcement, and faith organizations to talk about social services issues in the community.&amp;nbsp; This award is designed to enhance the capacity building efforts of the parent organization as well as its members.

&lt;font face="Times New Roman" size="3"&gt;First Steps is a research-based parent support program, with the following goals:&lt;/font&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman" size="3"&gt;To enrich family life and help to promote the healthy growth and development of children&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman" size="3"&gt;To provide families with current information, community resources and topics of interest to all parents of newborns&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman" size="3"&gt;To reduce the likelihood of child abuse and neglect during the early years by supporting parents of newborns through their first steps of parenting&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
&lt;font face="Times New Roman" size="3" /&gt;
&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;
&lt;font face="Times New Roman" size="3"&gt;Primary Job Responsibilities:&lt;/font&gt; 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman" size="3"&gt;Direct service to parents of newborns born at a metro Atlanta hospital&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman" size="3"&gt;Supervision and training of First Steps volunteers&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman" size="3"&gt;Development and maintenance of program materials for parents&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman" size="3"&gt;Liaison between First Steps program and the birthing hospital, community collaborators and stakeholders&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman" size="3"&gt;Program accountability including quality assurance, data collection and evaluation, compliance with hospital and First Steps program requirements&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman" size="3"&gt;Assist with strategic planning for enhancement and growth of First Steps program services in metro Atlanta &lt;/font&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;p&gt;
&lt;font face="Times New Roman" size="3"&gt;Required Education and Skills:&lt;/font&gt;
